Alex’s Thoughts of the Morning
2008-05-24 10:45I cut my hair and shaved this morning. When he saw me he said “Daddy cut his hair.” Dina and I were flabbergasted.
We’re playing some music this morning (Rasputin by Boney M and a Witch Doctor cover by Ray Stevens). Dina and I were singing along. Alex exclaimed “No singing!” to which Dina remarked, “A Simon Cowell in the making.”
Dina: What did you just say Alex? [To me] Did he just say “Swiper, go to hell?”
Alex: Swiper, blueberry hill.
Dina: Oh!
Time For Change
2008-05-19 11:31We’re probably moving soon (it’s about time, we’ve been living in C for over a decade, and living in the same apartment for 9 of those years)… most likely W (or Z)… if that falls through, then probably B… we’re still not completely sure.
It should be obvious what C is if you know us. Feel free to ask about B, W, and Z offline.
Tough Week
2008-05-17 20:30Alex was sick most of the week. We think he lost 5 to 10% of his body weight (i.e., 1 or 2 pounds). He was throwing up for about 3 days, and had diarrhoea for 4. He was lethargic and sleeping much worse than he normally does.
I was so out of it Wednesday that my accomplishments for the day were:
- Not crashing the car on the way to or from work.
- Not throwing up (I get nauseous when I don’t get enough sleep).
Thankfully Alex is bettor now, and we’re all more caught up on sleep.
Other things of note:
- Both my right and left knees are now hurting when I’m at rest. Worrisome.
- My title changed (though, I didn’t get promoted) at work. From “Senior Lead Software Engineer” to “Manager, Technology”.
Computer To Give Away
2008-05-17 20:22My dad’s old computer is past useful for him, so I’m getting rid of it for him. Computer goes to whoever makes it easiest for the computer to get put to good use fairly quickly. Motivating factors: I want to see the computer put to good use, and have the computer out of our apt ASAP. I’d be happiest of this got donated to some charity that someone cares about that picks up donations :-).
- Processor: AMD Athlon 1,200MHz.
- RAM: 196MB
- Video: ???
- Hard Drive: ~37GB.
- Other Drives: CD-ROM. CD-R/W. (Yes, there are 2 CD drives). 3.5″ floppy. Multimedia card reader (SM/xD, CF/MD, SD/miniSD/MMC/RS MMC, MS/MS Duo, USB 2.0).
- OS: Windows 2000. Warning: I think that the box may have been pwn3d. I’d suggest wiping and reinstalling the OS before using this computer. My dad’s ISP charged him $120 one month for excessive upload bandwidth usage.
Ran, Sick
2008-05-12 08:49Ran 4M in 45m with Lily yesterday. I’m out of shape / she’s a slave-driver.
Alex threw up for the 3rd (our bed, 04:45), 4th (our bed / on Dina, 07:10), and 5th (kitchen sink, 7:40) times in his life today.

Good “Deal of the Day” Site?
2008-05-11 19:25We’re looking to buy a portable DVD player at some point… anyone know of a mediocre, durable, inexpensive one? If not… I’m figuring that a deal of the day-type site would eventually have one.
Notes on Alex
2008-05-10 11:22- He asks, “What’s that?” and “What are you doing?”
- He can both identify and recite letters and numbers through about 20. He’s been doing this for a while… I’ve just been too lazy to write it down.
- He likes singing… a frequent request is “Blue car!” (he thinks our olive-coloured car is blue, go figure). When we ask him for clarification, it’s generally because he associates the car with us playing his Rick Goldin CD for him.
- He looks like he lost a fight. He has a cut on his upper lip, and his nose. His right cheek is bruised. Apparently he tripped on the floor and face-planted. He has an eye infection which makes it swell shut / look like a black eye.

- A leopard-print banana hammock for O’s 30th birthday present. L offered us $100 if we could convince him to wear it in public.

I’m expecting JCC to yell at me for that one.

2008-05-04 22:02… the Shoreline 5K in Beverly this morning. I finished in 31 minutes even. Fizz finished in 30:15.
Notes to self:
- Check weather forecast for the weekend before registering for a run. Running in the rain sucks.
- Pack a full change of clothes and a towel when running in the rain.
