Marathon Plans?

I’m thinking of running the Jungfrau-Marathon in 2009. Anyone want to encourage me by pledging to run with me?

Dina’s reaction was, and continues to be, fear for my life. I think that the route elevation may be part of the reason. The fact that the course record is 2:50ish might also be telling me that this may not be the first marathon I want to run.

If you’re looking for a marathon in Europe, my dad really liked running Amsterdam. He’s also *really* into running, and in addition to Amsterdam he’s run the DC Marathon (his first), Richmond, VA, and Boston several times. Also, he started running at age 55, and my mom certainly had fears similar to Dina’s! He’d probably be happy to talk to you about it if you’d like.

Mira: Thank you for the offer, I may take you up on that. The Amsterdam marathon is a good idea… flat and easy to get to if I plan a business trip correctly. Plus I just looked at the course map. Nice, scenic route at a time of year that’s fairly cool.

My dad said it’s a good thing it’s pretty flat and easy since he was sightseeing with my mom for two weeks beforehand, which means walking until you can’t anymore pretty much every day :)

Note to self: A coworker of mine suggested the Zurich Marathon.
