Milestones

  • Photograph: Boston Public Library: Green Lamps, Boston, 2005-09-17, © Nick Varacalli.Alex’s learning to go down stairs and get off our couches. Most of the time he needs a little coaxing, either physical or verbal, to turn around and go down feet first. He has done it all by himself though.
  • He understands that pointing means we want him to look at where we’re pointing instead of our hand / fingers.
  • He understands that light switches turn lights on and off and can operate some types. When we pick him up, he recognizes that he’s in range of a light switch, gets excited, and wants to play with the light.

It’s so nice to see Alex’s milestones. We keep wondering when our kid will understand the pointing thing and the light switch technology. It’s like having a window into Léo’s future.

amazing how they develop different aspects at different rates. ours is still trying to figure out how to operate some light switches (and hollers a bit if we won’t let him, which can be embarrassing when dining out). and protecting his head (by going down stuff feet first, which he certainly can) just doesn’t seem to be a priority for him… I wonder where he gets such a hard head?
