We’ve all been sick. We think it’s the Norovirus / Norwalk virus. Alex started on Monday night. Dina followed on Tuesday. I’ve been fighting it / eating like a pig / drinking like a camel since Wednesday but have yet to fully succumb. Dina missed 3 days of work and a lunch date. I’ve rescheduled 2 interviews and another lunch date. Together we’ve missed dancing, a dinner date, and a ski weekend. Alex went off solid foods for 4 days, and for a while was on Pedialyte only… we’re pretty sure he’s lost weight. We’ve been through over a dozen bottles of Gatorade. It would’ve been a nice 3 days home with the family if we weren’t all so out of it.- Alex deserves his own bullet point for this. Despite being sick and teething, he’s been in amazingly good spirits. No idea where he gets it.
- Speaking of which, Alex has been stepping it up lately. He’s babbling more, and experimenting with different sounds. He’s getting sturdier on his feet. He can kneel down. He can squat. He stands unsupported if he doesn’t think about it. He’s taken a single step, again, when not thinking of it. He’s getting better with his hands. He seem to understand the world better. Somehow it seems like a lot of progress… a quantum leap… in just a week.
- Had to deal with a service provider earlier this week. Just before finishing the service, they asked me to fill out a quality survey. When they still have my information on screen and are waiting for me to fill in the card, do you think I’m going to fill in anything but perfect across the board? I have the same issues with complaining about mail carriers or garbage pickup. If you complain, service seems to get worse. Monopolies suck.
- We bought a Roomba… he’s (it vacuums in our house, must be male) named Florian, a name suggested by Dan. So far, he does a pretty good job. Alex makes the same sounds around him that he does around kids. A “whooooo” sound that straddles curiosity, trepidation, and fear.
