Hint 1:
On 64bit Windows the file is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft LifeCam

Hint 2:
A version that would survive LiveCam updates would be to revoke read/write access from the file for everyone.

Vielen Dank für diesen sehr hilfreichen Tip. Bei mir ging ständig ein Pop Up Fenster auf, dass mich zwingen wollte den Windows Live Messenger zu installieren. War schon drauf und dran meine Windows HD 5000 Webcam zu verkaufen. Endlich ist Ruhe ! Danke Danke Danke für das Abschalten der Windows Live Messenger Aufforderung diesen zu installieren.

Thank you. I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but my computer showed the pop-up whenever the camera was activated – which is even worse. If I had actually pressed the button, it would have been (well, to some extent at least) my fault.

Anyway, thanks to you I expect to get through another day without a nervous breakdown. :)

Thanks for the info. I had to go into the folder options and uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types” before I could change .exe to .ex_

I made a copy LiveCam.exe to IcePick.exe so now if I pressed the Call Button it will start LiveCam.

Simply renaming IcePick.exe worked great in Windows 7. That program was appropriately named, as the popup was about as pleasant as an icepick to the eyeball. Thanks!
