During an email discussion spawned by the Toys Change entry, Sarah suggested that I “build the stroller of your dreams” myself. This made me verbalize something that I long ago realized, but have rarely verbalized:

I’m an optimizer, not a creator.

It took me a while to come to terms with this. I think it’s especially apparent when it comes to programming.

Toys Change

We have as much chance of getting a Bugaboo as we do of getting a Ferrari. Still doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want one… but seriously… $680, $730, or $780 for a stroller? I’m already weirded out that we’re paying $400 for a Mountain Buggy Urban.

On our recent visit to NYC, we talked to 4 sets of parents driving Bugaboo’s, Mountain Buggy Urban’s, and Phil & Ted’s e3. When in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, Jim gave me grief when he determined I was oggling a Stokke Xplory instead of a hot blonde.

<sigh /> I’m not sure what to make of the fact that I’m blogging about baby gear.

Ran

Ran a 10K in Central Park last weekend. My right foot fell asleep from about mile 2 to mile 5. As Dina points out though, I should be able to deal with the little bumps in the road. Total time: 1:01:38. Pace / Mile: 9:56. I was aiming for under an hour, so I’m quite disappointed.
