I didn’t take quite as drastic a step. But I did take the 12 weeks unpaid Family Medical Leave (4 right away, 8 more when N almost 1), which may shortly become paid leave in Mass. Plus I told my boss I was going to leave at around 5 every day working 40 hours/week, no more, unless it was an emergency. But more power to you. If J pulls in a big income, I’d be happy to stay home with N. :-)
You rock!
Paul: Thank you. Very hard decision in some ways… so the encouragement means a lot.
woo-HOO! :)
If I may ask, in what ways was it tough?
crammer: Thank you.
Mostly financially / career-wise. My instincts are telling me I need to pay for college while I’m reducing my income to zero.
Good for you.

David: We considered doing that. Part of the motivation was that I needed a break from my current job / company.
