Timing

  • We have free time now. We won’t have free time later.
  • We want to to get used to the baby-proofed apartment now. Apparently one’s IQ drops precipitously after the birth of one’s child.
  • How long have you known me? I tend to prepare in advance. It usually works for me. Why stop now?

So, no… it’s not too soon.

I feel so priviledged to be privy to your internal self-confirmatory dialogue. :)

You’re IQ doesn’t drop, the things that require your immediate attention increase and the priority level of things formally important, drops.

In short your IQ is directed at dealing with the small demanding thing and very little processing is left over for formally important things.

The computer analogy is that just because your computer is slow at opening your mail while it’s also transcoding video doesn’t mean computer is slow.

I’ll stop now. (but my IQ has not dropped, it’s just busy)

(Baby-proofing note: We bought a big fence and some baby gates and turned our living room into a giant playpen. This saved of us from worrying about the rest of the house for a year. :)
