I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Photograph: Champs des Soeurs, Montreal, 1994, © Nick Varacalli. Apparently, this song drives kids everywhere into a tizzy. It took me until my late teens to figure out that mom was really kissing dad dressed up as Santa.

Another person relates that she was traumatized by the song as a child. This song caused a distressed six year old to realized that Santa was a “sexual being”. It also got said child to wonder why mommy was kissing someone other than daddy. I’m very impressed with her mom who was able to explain why everything was in fact OK, without letting the cat out of the bag WRT Santa.

We are geeks.

Try
    Do While True
        X.Execute()
    Loop

Catch Y As Exception
    MsgBox(String.Format("We {0} until we {1}.",
                         X.Description(), _
                         Y.Message), _
            MsgBoxStyle.Critical Or MsgBoxStyle.OKOnly)

End Try

And the inevitable response from a snarky friend:

I tried your code for the following values and it seems to work:

X: Drink Scorpion Bowls.

Y: Burst blood vessel in eye and infect same.

X: Play Blackjack.

Y: All money is gone, except that which you lent Idiot 1.

X: Play department Poker.

Y: All money is gone, all paper within 50 feet has been converted to Idiot 0-script(TM) and Idiot 1 has repaid the blackjack loan 10x over.

X: Play Whitewater heads up against Idiot 0 for >$1000.

Y: Idiot 2‘s cheek twitches uncontrollably. (Note: this trial seemed to throw all sorts of exceptions.)
